Your website is your digital “store front / shop window”. It mainly tells people what your business does and how to find you. And if it’s a little more fancy, it might even sell stuff for you as well!
Our local websites are often rubbish. Those who do know how to sell online are doing a great job but many of us think websites are;
“baffling”, “too expensive”, “too hard”, “cons by rip-off merchants”, “too time consuming”, “too much maintenance”, “unnecessary” or “a waste of time”.
Here’s the thing…
We have loads of newcomers to town and we’ll likely get more. Anyone from an urban centre knows to Google first because they can’t waste time in traffic on the off-chance something’s in stock. So they look online. They see the big chains. This is not good for local businesses!
Lockdowns forced many locals online for shopping. That means they’ve got used to it too. So where are they looking? Online. Even the ones that want to “buy local” are being habitualised into looking online first. If they can’t find what you have, they’ll likely buy it somewhere else.
According to Google, over 60% of shoppers Google search before buying anything. That means you might be missing out on a bunch of potential customers who simply don’t realise they can get your particular product/service right at their doorstep - rather than finding it with someone else.
